The LMA is a Research Unit of the CNRS (UPR 7051) attached to INSIS and linked at Aix-Marseille University and at the Centrale Marseille Engineering Shool.
The themes are developed analytically, numerically and experimentally.
In Mechanics, the studies concern the behavior of materials, structures and interfaces, as well as nonlinear vibrations.
In Acoustics, they extend from analysis of wave propagation to processing of sounds and music, including vibroacoustics, impact echo, active and passive control.
Non-Destructive Testing and Evaluation is one of the themes of the” Waves and Imaging” team and accumulates nearly 30 years of experience in the NDT of real materials and structures.
Developed themes are related to the control of steels, composites and concrete. For metallic materials, studies focus on welds, inspections in liquid sodium and the definition of materials and structures controllability.
For composite materials, the themes are on the analysis of fold ripples and the bounding control.
For civil engineering, linear and non-linear acoustic controls are developed for characterizing concrete material and defects.
Information processing leads to imaging and to data fusion in the case of multi-technical civil engineering inspection. The technology transfer from laboratory tests to on-site measurements makes it possible to propose diagnostic assistance.
The laboratory participates in several collaborations through national and international projects with numerous industrial and academic partners.
